A spectacular storm above Sandton City (on the right) in the distance. I was taking pics of the cosmos in the Delta when the storm approached. It proved to be much more spectacular. Nature is simply breathtaking sometimes.

This is one of a series that I’ve been painting of areas in the more run down parts of Johannesburg. I’ve been using line and wash technique as it seems to work well with the subject matter.

I often take a subject that has been done a thousand times before and see it through new eyes. I’ve tried to catch the sparkle in the dew and the bokeh in the background in a new way.
This photograph I took of the cosmos is going to be used for an interior. The image is baked into the glass to make a permanent display.
When everyone else was shooting large landscapes I spotted this beauty. The light was almost gone when I took the shot (hand held). Only when I got back did I look at the magnificence of this dragonfly.
